For the love of zendalas...

I've really been missing Erin's Zendala Dare...
It's a month now since the last one...
So I decided to just go ahead and start at the beginning! That leaves me with lots and lots of zendala templates as I only just got started doing them at #95...

Here's my take on the very first Zendala Dare...

Arukas, knight's bridge, inaura, tipple, fescu, zescen, ovolution

Inside my journal...
These are my journal pages from week 16..

Under the zentangle tiles is notes about a book I read that week, a movie and a new tv-show I started watching...
On this page I wrote a little about what we did this week...
Under the picture of my Sofie's Universe is a picture of a birthday card I made for my nephew and under that I wrote about his birthday party and his present...

My favorite challenge of the very many available has to be this little one!

If you, like me, cannot get enough of the inchies, you should check out the twinchie challenge too!

Down to earth...

&

While drawing this for Tackle it Tuesday, it occurred to me that it would fit pretty neatly for the Diva challenge too...
So I brought out the watercolors to emphasize the earthly theme...

One new to me tangle: Riverstones
Also Kozy and Betweed

"Find a string in the photo."

Another great challenge from Joey...

Msst, wavy border, sez, roxi, pokeleaf, ripple, fescu, waves, rain dotty
This tile contains only water/beach related tangles.
Once again I added some color to bring forth the earth/beach theme...

Please check out this new challenge!
If you enjoy the Every Inchie Monday, you will love the Tuesday Twinchies too!
The more entries, the more fun for every one!

Two ideas popped in my head with this 4th 2x2 challenge, so I kept with the theme and made two twinchies...

Royal is the tangles King's Crown, Queen's Crown and Knights Bridge with royal blue, gold and glitter...

Tangling rain in the sun...

It's summer today... Sunny and warm... Sleeveless blouse...
And a little tangling in the sun...
Tangling rain...

 That's New To Me #16: R-Tangles

Riveting, Riverstones, Roxi, Rain, Raindotty
The first two were new to me. I quite like both of them...

I am now up to round 30 on my Sofie's Universe.
This is so much fun and I am learning lots of new techniques and stitches.

An inch or two...

You might not know about this new biweekly challenge...
If you are a fan of Every Inchie Monday, like me, you'll like this one too.

All you need is a 2x2 inch piece of artwork, whatever your heart desires from the given prompt.
The two previous challenges was 'tree' and 'maze' and this one is 'Georgia'...

I don't know anything about Georgia... But I did get "Georgia on my mind"... I love that song...
So that's what I went with...

Georgia on my mind...
Micron and watercolors...
I'm not that familiar with watercolors, but I love using them so I'm sure in time I'll learn!
A touch of sparkly gelly roll too...

Again, micron and watercolors...
I really love the animal prompts...

For the love of robots...

Today was my nephew's 7 years birthday...
This was the card for the present containing a big box of Lego...

joey's weekly tangle challenge #56:

tangle a flower box or a baskit of bluebonnets...

This is my second attempt. I am really having trouble with baskit...

#whimsybykelly2015 day 108

Loving the spring time...

I have a feeling this very creative trip that I am on in 2015 will slow down over the summer... At least it seems that this amazing spring weather we have had lately is sneaking in and stealing my creative time...

On the other hand it is breathing pure joy into my soul... There is no thing as good as feeling the sun on your face...
And spending all day (or at least as much as is left of it after work... and before dinner, lunch packs, homeworks etc...) outside makes me, and thankfully my kids too, feel so wonderfully refreshed and relaxed... I'm sleeping like a baby... In fact some nights I'm fast a sleep even before my kids!

Don't you just love the spring time?
I do!
I would hug spring if I could!
I would hold on and never let go if I could!

Actually I wouldn't.... Summer means watermelons and ice cream...
I wanna hold on to summer!

I did manage to get a little creative though...

Tuesday I received an amazingly decorated letter filled with beautiful washi tape from Sarahiousplanz on Etsy...
So I just had to get to my journal and start using some of it...
These are the pages covering last week...

I am so in love with the flowery washi... And the date mark is also a washi tape...
The pages looked a bit empty... (Did I mention the weather?) So I printed some pictues from Sunday where we were playing with my son's building set...
My daughter build a dog, made it a name tag, a bed and a vet-clinic...
My son made a transformer that turned from a man into a machinegun... I made a few guns out of the leftover pieces which my son quickly deemed to also be transformers as they could be planes too...
Good times...

As usual I wrote a little about the past week under the pictures...

Under the picture of a book I read this week I wrote a little tiny review and I tucked some challenge tiles under some other challenge tiles...
I am really loving these little black tags I bought on ebay!

I worked on my Sofie's Universe... Just a few rounds...
When I took this picture I was working on round 26...
I am running low on the white... So I have finally made a decision on yarn and will hopefully find time to order some this weekend and have it delivered early next week and get started for real!
I can't wait!

Yesterday I trashed a couple of tiles... I just wasn't finding any Zen...
Thankfully today it went a lot better and I managed to make this little quickie for...

New tangle: Dandi
Not so new tangle: Queen's crown

Somehow I just feel this string calls for simplicity...

I hope you're all sharing the sun with me...

An inch of color...

It's spring and I just feel the need to add colors everywhere!

This inchie challenge is one of my favorites.
I am still amazed at how much I can fit into just an inch of paper...

One hundred days of creativity!

Hang on, I've got an entire week's work in pictures for you here!
Are you hanging? Good, let's go then...

Page 3 in my tangle sampler book is now done... Looking back I see that I posted about finishing page 2 on February 11th and this page contains about 65 tangles... It's roughly a new tangle a day...
That's pretty awesome! Go me! ;)

Cat-kin is a great tangle! It's simple and repetitive to draw and looks cool, I love it!
B'twined is one of many tangles I learned and only actually used once. But it's also a great tangle to draw, I will have to use it more.
(I wish I had made it bigger upwards, but that's for next time!)

I decided cat-kin was new enough to pass for a new to me tangle...

New tangle: Cat-kin
Inapod, eca-lin, lockar curls, ovolution, courant, enyshou, lilypads

It seems most of the participants in this challenge didn't care for the new theme... Only two submissions this week and not many last week either...
Go check it out, it's so much more fun when more people take part... :)

Owls, owls, owls...

I adopted Joey's cut-and-paste idea for my sketchbook...
My favorite things to draw is cats, owls doodle flowers... And I love to color in after, that is if I get the chance before the kids steals my drawings!
This time I got there in time... Perfect for a rainy Saturday afternoon...

String: I drew one..
Quib and Quabog

I've seen some really cool tiles using Quib. It looks so fun to draw, so I had to try.
And it was a great tangle to draw. But I didn't really know what to do with it once I had the quib down...
There was no step-out to be found on Quabog, maybe it's one of the top-secret tangles!
Good thing it's so simple even I can figure it out...
When I had drawn Quabog it looked so messy... Then I filled it with black and it took the focus away from the Quib...
Colored pencils to the rescue!!
Now it looks sort of outer-spacey... And I like it!

We have now passed one hundred days of creativity over at Whimsy by Kelly's where we're going for 300 creative days in 2015...
Yay for us!

Snow, spring and back to work...

Tangle used: Knyt by LyndelC

Round 21 is done. I had a little trouble as my popcorns was too much to one side, so I decided to start in the stitch before the one the pattern suggests. I hope this won't come back to haunt me on the next round!
*crossing fingers*

I am really loving this pattern. It's just the right mix of learning new but still repetitive enough that it's not too hard.
If only I could decide whether to go ahead and order the yarn the pattern suggests (it's pretty pricy with the shipping from UK to DK...) or try and pick something in a DK shop... I still haven't found something that's just right.

The pages for the past week is done. Even though this week started with snow it finished with spring, almost summer!
I felt the need for some happy spring feely paper...

As always my journal lets you play a little game of hide and seek.
Below the zendala dare you find my tile for the Tackle it Tuesday challenge and a bookmark made for Joey's weekly tangle challenge.
No books read this week, but I watched most of season one of the UK series "Fortitude". Very exciting, thrilling, horrific and with the most beautiful scenery filmed on Iceland.
Lastly a few notes on what we did this week...

On this page I made a pocket within the pretty paper storing tangled tiles and some photos from this week.
Below the picture of my Sofie's Universe is a little note on how far along I am.
On ebay I bought a pack of the cutest little tags and they are just perfect for my Every Monday Inchies!

I had expected to use up a second set of pages for this week. As we had the whole week off I really thought I would have done a lot more tangling and drawing.
But the weather have been just amazing which calls for outdoorsy playing with the kids and of course there's the holiday family visits, house full of kids most of the time... And suddenly the week is just gone!

It's been a great holiday and I'm feeling so good and relaxed and ready to take on work!
Tuesday show me what you've got!

The magic of zen...

Usually these zendalas just practically draw themselves... But not this one... I gave up on it twice...

But I still had a template among the papers laying around my end of the table... And today those ovals in the center were suddenly telling what they wanted and... voila!
It happened again. It's like magic!

Uncorked by Adele Bruno
Ovolution, Kozy, Nymph
Lawn Yawn by Molossus

Laced by Mary Elizabeth Martin
Lotuspods and Lilypads by Margaret Bremner
Lawn Yawn by Molossus
Lockar Curls by Ninna

Laced I have used a few times before, the rest were all firsttimers...
I really love lilypads and lawn yawn. Both aren't much to look at until surrounded by black, but then they look so great!
I wish I had skipped the lotuspods, I just can't get them to look as I want...
The lockar curls are right up my ally, I just love those swirls.

Zen in the sun...

I don't have much to show for today. I trashed two tiles trying new L-tangles for the that's new to me challenge... just wasn't feeling the zen tonight.

The sun graced us with it presence today, letting us get a taste of spring. So we have spent the entire day outside. It's truly amazing to sit and feel the sun on my face while listening to happy cries and laughter from the kids playing on the street.
Now there's some zen to find right there!

But I did do a drawing today, the biggest drawing this year in fact!

My daughter and I drew a racetrack on the street with chalk. It goes all the way to the end of the street. Phew.. I was pretty beat after that...
I found my self a chair in the sun and crocheted a few rounds on my Sofie's universe while the kids took a spin in the track on their bikes, skates and what's the name for the two-wheeler she's running on in the picture?

then I put on a cap, found a pad and a pen and gave tickets to the traffic violators, even had to draw a jail cell (with parking!) for the serial offenders...
Loads of fun.

Yesterday...

Ohoho, Obad, Widgets, Zescen
Micron, Colored pencils, gelly rolls

Inside my sketchbook...

 Well... Journal anyways...

Come show your sketchbook/journal/papers... over at

Today I finished last weeks pages in my journal...

As always I make more space by putting stuff under.. stuff...
(Yes, I know my way around words...)

My daughter and 3 of her classmates won an "Oscar" (a chocolate bunny that has a very short life ahead of him...) for a stop-motion movie they made.
They also got interviewed for the local paper.
They did such a great job making all the props and sets them selves. All third and fourth graders was guided by a pro stop-motion movie maker (I sure there's a fancy term for that...) in a workshop at the local library.
They really did make the very best of all the movies!
A proud mom I am in dead!

It's funny how seeing the pages like this always makes me think of something I could add or have done different... It seems I see my journal with different eyes when it's on the screen rather than irl...
The feLINEs (get it? There I go again with my brilliant wording!) should have switched places with the black tile...
And you can see from a mile away that the border-tile (by the black tile) was forgotten and added after I finished...

Some stuff can't be in the journal, like the two birthday cards under the cats, so I print pictures of it in stead. That also have the advantage that it takes up less space and lets me stay on my choice of just one page spread per week, keeping me at just one journal for the entire year.
"Mona" is a book by Swedish Dan T. Sehlberg I read last week. Really great thriller, I recommend it highly! (All though it's probably only available in the Scandinavian languages.)
